The St John’s Church Gordon Foundation Trust is a Trust Fund which can accept donations, bequests and gifts of money or property for the charitable purposes of the Parish Church of St John the Evangelist Gordon.
The Trust is administered by a Trustee company which is solely operated and controlled by the Churchwardens of the Parish.
The intention of the Foundation Trust is to have a Trust Fund to hold a capital base over the long term that can generate ongoing income for the charitable purposes of the Parish.
The Foundation Trust is governed by a Trust Deed that requires 75% of eligible voters at a Vestry Meeting of the Parish to distribute the Capital of the Trust or to vary the Trust Deed. This provides for stability and careful management of the Trusts Funds. The Trust Funds can only be used for the charitable purposes of the Parish.
The Foundation Trust was established in 1997 on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the laying of the Foundation Stone of the Parish Church of St John the Evangelist on 26 October 1872. It is hoped that this Trust Fund will be a Foundation for the Parish for the long term.
Thus the Foundation Trust is a way we can provide for the Parish today and for the future.
The Trust does receive bequests and legacies from Parishioners from their Estates. To make a bequest we advise you contact your solicitor. The following is an example of how you may make a bequest to the Foundation in your Will:
“I bequeath to the Trustee for the time being of the St John’s Church Gordon Foundation Trust, Gordon, New South Wales, the sum of $……… free of all duties for the purpose of the Trust. I declare that the receipt by the Trustees of the Trust shall be full and sufficient discharge to my executors.”
