Ladies’ Fellowship Group
The Ladies’ Fellowship Group comprises women of varying ages who meet mainly during evenings (for work reasons, or otherwise). Whether a mother of infant, primary, teenage, or adult children, a grandmother, or a loving aunt – all women of any age are welcome.
The Group meets at various times for a number of activities, ranging from monthly Sunday morning tea, monthly cleaning of the Church, weekly Bible study, Parish BBQs and the Church fete, to the popular dinners at local Gordon restaurants. You may participate in any number of the activities.
What binds us together is that we seek actively to serve our Parish and the community, while enjoying fellowship with one another.
Women’s Evening Group
The Women’s Evening Group (WEG), is a very active group with a diverse range of activities.
Many of the members are particularly gifted in producing craftwork. This work always sells well, whether at St John’s fetes, WEG’s street stalls in Gordon, or at the stall the first Sunday of the month during the coffee hour.
The group conducts an annual Card Day and an annual Anglican Board of Mission (ABM) Luncheon with a guest speaker.
WEG financially supports a child in Africa, parish projects and several missions. WEG meets monthly on the second Monday of each month at 10:00AM, followed by craft.
The Friday Prayer Group meets Friday mornings at 9:30AM in the Crypt (church basement), offering participants the opportunity to grow in their ability to converse with God in prayer while enjoying fellowship and friendship with other church members.
Prayer is fundamental to the Christian life and to the life of a growing fruitful parish. Jesus based His life and ministry on time in prayer. St Paul encouraged the Thessalonian Church to pray without ceasing.
The Bible is the source of our knowledge of God. Studying the Word of God strengthens our relationship with Him and we learn how to love Him with heart, mind and soul. As we read and study the Bible, we are led to an understanding of His plan and will for our lives.
There is a Tuesday Evening Women’s Bible Study Group which meets at 7:15PM in the church office. The Rector hosts a Bible Study Group on a Wednesday in Term time at 10.00 a.m.
The groups studies themes such as The “I Am” Promises Of Jesus, The Sermon on the Mount, Christian Disciplines, Forgiveness, Fruits of the Spirit, Decisions, Prayer, Christian Community and Meeting God.
